Tanya Kewalramani

Tanya Has Always Liked To See The Earth From An Alien’s Perspective. She Wondered Then And Wonders Now, ”What Is Going On This Universe? What Are We Doing Here? Why Are We Behaving So Stupidly And Killing Each Other Over Mostly Egoistic $#!T When Actually The Most Important Things We Need To Live- Air, Water And Food Are Free To Us From Nature? As She Grew Up She Was Determined To Find Out What Was Going On And Fervently Followed Various Scientists’ Search For A Theory Of Everything. While Pursuing Her Masters In Science Communication At The Australian National University, She Soon Got Disenchanted With The Search For A Theory Of Everything And Realized That Knowing Everything Would Not Actually Be As Fun As She Had Initially Thought. She Realized That Surprise Is Much Better And The Search Itself Is Fun. That Humility And Gratitude Towards Nature, Is Much More Important. As Without Nature's Free Gifts Of Air, Water And Food We Cannot Survive And That Human’s Contribution To Survival (some Impressive, Some Depressive) Is Definitely Overrated Compared To The Gifts That Keep Us Alive. Somehow As Soon As She Got Over This Search For A Theory Of Everything, She Landed Up Reading A Lot About Quantum Mechanics. It Felt As If Book After Magazine Was Almost Planted In Her Path. Quantum Mechanics Made Her Realize That No Matter How Objective We Try To Be, We Can Never Take Ourselves Out Of Our Own Observations And That Subjectivity Was Something That We Needed To Celebrate And Enjoy. It Is Our Different Perspectives That Make Life Wonderful. After Coming Back From Australia, Tanya Worked As Chief Science Communiction Officer At Imprimis Life PR And Is Currently, Director Of The Centre For Ethical Life & Leadership (CELL) Which Is A Not For Profit CSR And Sustainability Advisory. Tanya Is Also The India Representative Of The EPEA (Environmental Protection And Encouragement Agency), Germany And Is Affiliated With The Worldwide Movement- Cradle To Cradle. The Consultancy Co-creates Roadmaps With Businesses To Go Beyond Sustainability, So That They Can Maintain Abundance In The World Through Their Daily Operations Rather Than Engage In The Take-make-waste Culture Of Today. This Can Be Overcome By Having A Plan For The Materials At The Design Stage- So That The Materials Can Produce Products Of Equal Or Higher Value. Tanya Is Also The Founder And Director Of ‘Observing I’ A Renewable Energy And Sustainable Solutions Company. They Do Work Ranging From Solar PV Installations To Waste Management. They Also Hold A Patent For Eco Sheen- A Non Toxic Solution Used For Washing Carpets That Add Nitrogen To The Soil. In Her Free Time She Is Working On Sustainable Farm Design By Installing Solar PV, Catching Water From The Sky And Growing Organic Food At Her Own And Others’ Farms. Her Most Recent Venture Is See Sharp Fest ( A Multi Skill Sustainability Festival Which Was Held For The First Time From The 24-26th Of February In Goa, India. The Fest Offered 27 Skills Over 3 Days. From Composting To Rainwater Harvesting. Making Cooking Gas From Waste Food To Detergent Out Of Waste Oil. Big Bollywood Actor Abhay Deol And Many Other Celebrities Such As Anushka Shankar, Gaurav Kapoor And 20+ Others Supported The Initiative. The Fest Was Widely Covered In The Media With Over 100 Articles. Her Motivation Continues To Be To Create A Sustainability Education Based On A Good Mix Of Mindfulness And Matter.
